Consistently reliable, decade after decade
Grover Sons believes in long-term relationships with its suppliers.
Training is a continuous process and constant supervision by experts helps
to maintain uniform standards. Every supplier is painstakingly chosen and
trained and most of the suppliers have been with Grover Sons for more than
30 years. This ensures consistency and reliability.
The latest machines are put to use for cleaning and grading. Dedicated
quality assurance centres at various locations continuously monitor
production, harvesting and packing.
Food safety is of paramount importance to Grover Sons. The hulling unit
and cleaning unit is ISO and HACCP Certified
Products are packed according to customer specifications in jute bags,
polypropylene bags or multi-layer paper bags in various sizes, including
jumbo bags. Depending on the product and customer specifications, packing is
done always under close supervision and quality checks.
The Grover Sons team believes in consistent performance and customer
delight. After all, these are qualities that have kept the firm in the
vanguard of international spice trade for three-quarters of a century.
Sesame is an annual herb, which can grow as high as seven
feet, though most plants are two to four feet tall. The flowers are white or
lavender and mature into pods containing sesame seeds. When the seeds are
mature, the pods burst with a pop (giving rise to the famous “open
sesame” expression).
Sesame requires a delicate but expert touch right from cultivation to
hulling, something the Grover team has mastered over the years. The crop is
drought-tolerant, but adequate moisture is a must for germination and early
growth. If there is too much wind at harvest time, the pods can shatter and
the seeds will be lost. Harvesting is completed just before the pods are
ready to burst.
Hulling is done without additives and chemicals in hygienic conditions.
Grover can supply sesame as natural seeds or as hulled seeds.
